| Ok by the gay calendar, it is now officially summertime! Gay Day came and went, and this year we were pumped and ready! A year at the gym and countless hours basking on Hollywood Beach paid off.
This year we brought our pal Sean to Kevin & Chris' annual party. It was also Sean's 19th birthday! He had a great time. We walked to Kevin & Chris'. watched the festivities. Then when the sea of humanity thinned, we made the trek home.
It was a fun day. Nice and hot. I neglected my poor Marky all day and video taped the parade. You can watch it at http://briboychicago.com but this morning as I previewed the file, well it stopped before the Crobar erupted. You HAVE to see the Crobar erupt... I'll see if I can fix it or I guess I'll just have to encode the damned file all over again. Wish me luck...
...PS, I'm still dancing... |

| Happy New Year |
| | Tue Jan 4, 2005 19:46 |
| 1. I will not call anyone nellie or butch, unless that is his name. 2. I will not assume that women who like me are fag hags. 3. I will stop expecting to meet Keanu Reeves at the tubs. 4. I will not spend more than half an hour in the shower at the gym. 5. I will buy a drink for a fifties queen sometime. 6. I will not vote for anyone for Empress. 7. I will make friends with a straight man. 8. I will not make fun of the way he walks. 9. I will not tell him about Alexander the Great, Walt Whitman, or Leonardo da Vinci. 10. I will not do impressions of Bette Davis, Tallulah Bankhead, Mae West, or Paul Lynde. 11. I will not vote for politicians who use the term 'gay community'. 12. I will not measure it, no matter who asks. 13. I will not fantasize about firemen. 14. The hell I won't.

| Northalsted Market Days 2004 |
Weather: |

Sun Aug 8, 2004 14:50 |
| It seems Northalsted Market Days grows bigger and bigger each year. It reminds me of the Castro Street Fair back in San Francisco. Fun, fun, fun! I was of course resplendant in my kilt (which Marky bought for me here at Market Days two years ago), and the kilts were a popular item this year. I must have seen a dozen and a half guys wearing them. I stopped by Utilikilts' booth to say hi, and they were very fiendly and receptive. Our friend Chris sold Swatches at his booth, and our neighbor Sheila sold her wares at EllaStyle. About four o'clock we needed to get up off the street, and Chris, Kevin, and Tommy's new condo saves the day. I have yet to get my damned camcorder footage from Pride off the broken camera, but I guess until I get a camera I'll encode the tape without sound. At least give you some eye candy. Talk about eye candy, check out the Post a comment /Comments: 0 |

| How come it's like ninety degrees yesterday when we have to be at the doctor's office... and today when the calendar is free to go to the beach - it's drizzling and ugly out?!? Why is that?... I got through a couple of chapters yesterday in my current MCSA/MCSE studies... so today I am doing the written questions. I'd much rather be lounging on the sun deck - or better yet - at Hollywood Beach. I can study at the beach! Yeah, but WHAT I study is a whole different matter. I guess the gym is as good as any place to be today, but Marky isn't feeling too good. Maybe I'll go alone. Such a dilemma. Well, it's Friday, I know that much. Hopefully the sky will clear up soon. Don't hold your breath... |

| I feel gyp'ed! GayDay came and went so quickly this year. To begin with, we haven't had much of a summer yet. So by the time GayDay was here, there had barely been any 80 plus degree days... Oh we managed an acceptable tan, but hey! It should be 90 and sweltering. The Day itsalf was great! Chris and Kevin have a new condo, on Halsted, right in the thick of things. Third floor, with balcony. Life does not get much better. I shot two hours of video, and the next day I tried to play back the footage and it won't play back properly! It plays in some kind of fast forward mode with no sound. 15 months old too, the camcorder. Damnit. I'll try and get my footage off the tapes and onto BriBoyChicago.com, but there might not be sound yet. Not until I get the damned camcorder fixed... Think I'll go out and roast today. Rest up for the 4th... |

| AnthoNY's eyes get saved... we didn't get to the beach today. We did go down to the sundeck, had to scramble under the building once to avoid a sudden rain shower. I couldn't get my finicky wireless to find my AP upstairs, so instead I ran through another couple of cert practice tests. So no pictures from the beach today, AnthoNY... |

| Good morning, everyone! The weather report is calling for eighty degrees today, although the clouds are going to have to start burning off here... It would be a nice day to go to the beach, or at least lay out in the park. Bask in the warmth and quiet of Sunday. Listen to the Cubs game. Take advantage of the calm Sunday before returning to business as usual. I made MCDST like I said in my last post. I had planned to make the cert as my primary goal for the year... but now that I'm in study mode, I've got the desire to move on. Next goal: MCSA. I have my electives already: the MCDST. So why not keep going! I have set the prliminary goal of nine months to MCSA. I'm ready! Just don't let me download the books to my iPAQ and try to study at the beach. There's much prettier things to look at on the beach than Active Directory. |

| BriBoyChicago, MCP, MCDST... I got my cert today. I had slacked in my study discipline. That can happen when you study at home. Too many distractions. That and I had lost focus for a few weeks. Thing is, I passed my second test. That's the main thing. I'm your friendly XP Help Desk. Call me anytime. $4 a minute. Think that's too high?!? |

| It’s like college finals for me this week, with more exam preparation. I found myself procrastinating and avoiding the books in getting ready for my second and final exam. Well, final exam for now anyway. So I read somewhere that if you set yourself an exam date, then that’ll urge you into studying like you should be. Well, it worked. I set my exam date for June 2, and I feel confident… but I still remember how I felt taking the first exam. Hopefully I’ll be a little more relaxed this time around. So it’s back to the books now… |

| We took it easy yesterday for our first day at the gym. It was more of mapping out the lay of the land than putting the pain to the muscles... that'll come soon enough. The workout went well. I wasn't intimidated by the buffed guys at all. We're walking home after the workout and it's suppertime. We contemplated McDonald's. I have to laugh! McDonald's after the gym. That's pretty funny. We passsed on that. Day off today and then we'll go back and crunch tomorrow. Now that damned song is stuck in my head..."I saw the sign. Well I opened up my eyes and saw the sign..." "Life is demanding, without understanding..." |

| That's me. It's nearing the weekend, and welcome it will be. Not like it was a tough week. It wasn't exactly a quiet week either. I am ready for some quiet. Maybe another nice day at the beach. I would have snapped some pictures last visit to Hollywood Beach, but there were only about twenty guys there and that would have been a little awkward. It was a beautiful day in the sand, and we took care not to stay too long. Marky did get a mild burn though anyway. So we no more than get home and a big rumbling thunderstorm hit. They've been coming and going this week, these thunderstorms. Well I guess it is springtime. They did bring flowers. Tulips. That and the park is deep, lush green. Another good reason for the approaching weekend... |

| Sent mom an electronic greeting card, and she replied that all my work transferring the videos was her birthday, Mother's Day, and more all rolled up into one. I had fun doing it. It was very rewarding. I'll make the DVD's as soon as my next spindle arrives. Good, too, because I also recorded Jackass: The Movie. Oh my God, I haven't laughed that hard in years. Oh boy. I even laughed harder than the first time I heard Miss Coco Peru say "It buuuurrrrrrrrrrrrns!". Those Jackass guys are twisted. I like Steve-O. What a hot group they can be. I love it when they do their stunts in jock straps...
So it's going to be in the eighties today and we're off to Hollywood Beach. Pretty early this year, eh! I'll bring the Mavica... |

| It seems faster, the trip home, than it was getting to CA. Maybe it’s me. Maybe it’s the jet stream? It’s a beautiful day up here at 35,000 feet. It was foggy and generally overcast this morning leaving Oakland. Just up above the cloud level I saw my Mt. Diablo. Why did I have the camcorder put away! I wanted a nice shot of SF as we took off, but A) it was too foggy, and B) I sat on the wrong side of the plane. I took an emergency row seat this trip and have enjoyed the extra leg room. Not like my legs are that long to begin with… um, uneventful flights. That’s the best kind. I feel we’ve begun the descent now. It’s a half past noon. I know two dogs that’ll be happy to see me. I sure missed my little family…

| Last day in CA. It's warming up nice, and I'm about to go bask some more. I got my chores done, got the bags mostly ready, cause it'll be an early trip tomorrow morning. I was going to post some video but my laptop doesn't have fire wire. I've really had enough video transfer for this week. There will be some fun clips. We went to dinner last night at the clubhouse, and after dinner Kevin made us some creme brulee. Man, was that tasty! Tonight I'm making a pizza with some grilled turkey and bell pepper. Then it's an early night cause we're a ways from Oakland. It's been beautiful weather for me here this trip, and I understand it's been raining in Chicago. Poor bastards. Wait, I'll be a poor bastard tomorrow! Chat with you all from the plane... |

| It’s been in the nineties most days here during my visit to California. Yesterday and today have been pretty windy. I guess the weather wants me to feel right at home. I haven’t seen any beaches but there’s been lots of sun. I was in Oakland to see my doctor, but I didn’t get a chance to get some views of The City on the camcorder. Traffic was just too nerve wracking. I’m tooling along Vasco Road taking mom to birthday lunch. I’m going ten over the speed limit, and then a truck passes me. Minutes later, a CHP pulls in front of me from out of nowhere, and gets the truck for speeding. Next day the CHP starts their “Zero Tolerance” program for speeding. They targeted Interstate 80 from SF to Reno. Can you imagine? I haven’t heard how many tickets were written, but the fines started out at $200 and went up from there. One guy doing 110 went right to jail. Since then I have not gone one mile per hour over the speed limit…

| Today Ive been transferring years and years of photos and video onto the computer. Wow, have we been taking a stroll down Memory Lane. 2000s, the 90s, the 80s and oh my God, the 70s Ha Ha Ha Ha Stayin Alive! Stayin Alive! Waitll you see me in my polyester glory the 50s, the 40s; yes weve been going way back. Today I also attempted to get some slides captured. Without scanner. You should see my set-up. Got a gadget holding the slide in the air. Got a white piece of paper behind it. A string of lights to light up the paper. The camcorder on tripod aimed at the slides. Phyllis steady hand replacing each slide as I snap a pic. My eyes are getting weary. Moms cooking a turkey. You know what that means, after supper is nap time deluxe. Weve gotten a lot done today. So have the guys painting the house. In this 90-some-odd-degree heat. Yuck. Tiempo para cervesa. Gracias. |

We flew over Fermllab, that was real cool. Especially since we were just there for Tom Skilling's Tornado Seminar. Then the sky got real hazy until reaching the Rockies, so I had time to read email. Getting a little bumpy now... See you on the ground... |

| I'm ready for a venture. Going to go see mom. I've been packing the laptop bag with everything I'll need... which this trip is more than usual. See, mom wants to get the video footage off the Sony Hi-8 and I'd like to get it digitized and burned to DVD. So I'm trying to accomplish that with toting as little gear as possible. This is fun. So far the bag is still carry-able. Ask me tomorrow afternoon when I get to CA. I'm going to transfer their video onto my camcorder and burn the camcorder tapes to DVD here when I get home. I'll need to tap into her broadband so I'm bringing a router... Wireless AP this time cause mom kinda got tiffed when I strung cat5 all through her living room last trip LOL. Well, I'd better get back to packing up the suitcase. I'll check in somewhere tomorrow... |

| It's a week full of reflections. We began with the '06 earthquake - and now we remember Oklahoma City Federal Building disaster and also the Columbine tragedy. Add to this the seemily never ending Iraq conflict, and it's hard to keep an upbeat attitude. So we keep busy. A busy day it was! Thanks to laptop and PocketPC I kept working all day. It was a productive day too. Now I'm relaxing, watching the Cubs shellac the Pirates. This relaxation may not last, though. A powerful storm cluster approaches Chicago. We've had 5 tornadoes touch down already. Some 80 miles from here, but moving fast. So we're taking note of what things to grab if it should call for a mad dash to the basement... Gonzo just hit a dinger! Gotta love that Gonzo. woof |

| I just realized, that yesterday was April 18. Ninety-eight years ago San Francisco had the famous earthquake. So in just two short years, there will be the big Centennial Earthquake Observation. I was in the Bay Area on October 17, 1989, when the area was rocked by Loma Prieta. Wow, what an experience that was! Growing up in California for thirty some odd years you'd think one gets used to earthquakes... Not so. Especially for a 7.1. I remember that day like it was yesterday.... Oh, and my team the Giants lost the Series. In four games. |

I think so... but then you know me, I'm already preparing for the next exam. Going to take a week off, though, and go out to CA and see mom. That'll be nice. I haven't seen mom in two years. Today is all about relaxatrion though. Sounds like a good plan. |
